Canon 200mm f/4
The Canon FD 200mm f/4 is a manual-focus medium telephoto prime for Canon's FD breech-lock and later bayonet FD mount, introduced as part of the FD system that ran from 1971 to 1987. It was designed as an affordable, compact short telephoto suitable for portraiture, sports and general field work on Canon SLRs of the period.
Sales data is very thin: a single recorded UK auction hammer result from October 2023 sold for £20, which sits at the wholesale saleroom level rather than dealer retail. On that limited evidence the FD 200mm f/4 is currently worth around £20 at auction today, and tidy, fungus-free copies tend to sell for modest sums because the FD telephoto market is well supplied. Later bayonet-mount FDn versions in clean cosmetic condition typically command a small premium over earlier breech-lock examples when they appear.

Title: Canon FD 200mm F4 1:1 Macro Lens Superb Lens To Use On Sony Mirrorless Cameras
Description:
This is a pretty rare lens that still offers superb performance when used with a glassless adapter on modern mirrorless cameras. I have used on a full frame Sony A7rii and A7cii with great results. Glass is clean and clear, focus is smooth with just 1mm of play, which for an old Canon FD lens is good as they often have significant play. The original lens cap has a broken clip, but it still fits on fine and clamps etc. Fantastic lens in really nice condition, considering it's from the 1980s! Fully manual focus and aperture so works well on mirrorless camera if you have a bit of patience with focusing. Bidding starts at 99p with no reserve. Location: Blackwood, United Kingdom |

Frequently asked questions
What is a Canon FD 200mm f/4 worth today?
Based on the single UK auction record available, the FD 200mm f/4 is worth around £20 at hammer, though that figure rests on very thin data and clean examples may achieve more.
How much does a Canon FD 200mm f/4 sell for at auction?
The only verified UK saleroom result on file is £20 hammer in October 2023, which suggests current auction price levels are modest for this lens.
Is the Canon FD 200mm f/4 a good value telephoto?
Yes — its low secondhand value, FD mount compatibility and 200mm reach make it an inexpensive entry into manual-focus telephoto shooting, provided the glass is clean and the focus is smooth.
Will a Canon FD 200mm f/4 fit modern Canon cameras?
It will not mount natively on Canon EF or RF bodies; use on modern digital cameras requires an FD adapter, and infinity focus behaviour depends on the adapter type.
